Marc Kielburger’s Call to Action for a Better World
In this uplifting and inspirational talk, New York Times bestseller and philanthropist Marc Kielburger shares how he and his brother Craig launched a movement of change at just 12 and 17 after hearing of Masih Afzal, an 18-year-old Pakistani boy murdered for speaking out against child slavery. These brothers founded WE (Women for Everyone), ME to We, and WE Day events, which have had an enormous impact. Their work has touched numerous lives while making substantial social change possible, all based on their belief that young people make change possible.
The Kielburgers have travelled to dozens of countries, meeting some of the most prominent world leaders, from Nelson Mandela to Mother Theresa, as well as sharing simple meals with families living in poverty in slums or war zones. Through their work, they’ve come to realise there is a universal longing for compassion and humanity, and real fulfilment comes from taking action and helping others. Anyone can become an unlikely hero—just find your voice and start somewhere!
Marc and Craig embarked on an extraordinary journey that saw them launch a charity in their parent’s living room with just $500, eventually expanding it into an international nonprofit that has raised millions, reached thousands of schools globally, and empowered youth to be agents of change in their own communities. Along their journey, they’ve met extraordinary individuals who taught them leadership lessons ranging from the importance of taking big risks while accepting your shameless idealism to developing meaningful relationships while being accountable. They will share some of these leadership lessons.
The brothers will discuss their goal of creating a future where everyone has equal access to a fulfilling and happy life, regardless of where they were born or the circumstances surrounding their lives. Leveraging decades of experience, they will discuss how businesses can create positive change within communities while inspiring movements for more equality in our world.
Marc Kielburger delivers an engaging and interactive leadership call-to-action speech during which he discusses how his career has progressed from operating an activist organisation out of his parent’s home to becoming one of the world’s foremost social entrepreneurs. Drawing upon his years of experience and insight, Marc will help business and community leaders assess their own ability to affect change within themselves as well as provide tools necessary for making their vision come to fruition.
